Erina Ueda

Erina Ueda, a native of Nagoya, Japan, and raised in Chandler, Arizona, is an accomplished dancer and artist who has made significant contributions to the world of dance. Currently embarking on her second year as Main Company member of Giordano Dance Chicago after a year as Giordano II, Erina holds the distinction of being the first Asian female dancer in the company.


In addition to her captivating performances on stage, Erina plays an integral role behind the scenes as both a videographer and a social media manager for Giordano Dance Chicago. With her keen eye for capturing the essence of movement and her creative approach to storytelling, Erina skillfully crafts visually stunning videos that showcase the company's performances and artistic endeavors. Her passion for dance and her ability to effectively communicate through social media platforms contribute to the company's online presence and engage audiences worldwide.


Erina's commitment to her artistic development and excellence is further exemplified by her achievement of the esteemed Professional Level of the Nan Giordano Certification Program® as the first Japanese individual to attain this distinction on a global scale. Academically, Erina pursued her passion for dance at the University of Arizona, where she excelled both artistically and academically. Graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2021 with a major in Dance and a minor in Psychology, she demonstrated her ability to balance her artistic pursuits with her intellectual growth.


Throughout her young career, Erina has already amassed an impressive repertoire of achievements, touring extensively across various states and countries, captivating audiences with her remarkable performances, and showcasing and premiering numerous original choreographic works, all while collaborating with renowned choreographers such as Alejandro Cerrudo, Frank Chavez, Peter Chu, Nacho Duato, Autumn Eckman, Gus Giordano, Martha Graham, Ronen Koresh, Ray Leeper, Ohad Naharin, Crystal Pite, Ray Mercer, Paul Taylor, among others, enriching her artistic journey and contributing to her growth as a dancer.


Beyond the stage, Erina's contributions to the arts extend to the realm of film. She was featured in the 2018 Netflix film "Driven to Dance," directed by Tati and Anthony Vogt, where her talent and passion were showcased to a wider audience. Additionally, Erina's exceptional abilities and artistic journey will be highlighted in an upcoming documentary, filmed by Emmy Award-winner Ryan Fitzgerald, where she shares the spotlight with renowned choreographer Autumn Eckman. Erina Ueda's unwavering commitment, artistry, and talent captivate and leave a lasting impact on audiences worldwide.
