Sasha Lazarus is a main company member and co-costume manager with Giordano Dance Chicago, where she has danced for six years. Originally from Delray Beach, Florida, Sasha trained at Boca Ballet Theatre under the direction of Jane Tyree and Dan Guin, and at Performance Edge 2 with Ricardo Pena. In 2017, Sasha graduated from The Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, where she performed lead roles in works by Margo Sappington, Christopher Huggins, Jennifer Archibald, Meredith Dincolo, Krista Ellensohn, Jan Hanniford, Jennifer Kronenberg, Kenneth Easter, Heather Lescaille, and others.
In 2018, Sasha completed Complexions Contemporary Ballet’s Pre-Professional Program under the mentorship of Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson before launching her professional career with Menlowe Ballet in Menlo Park, California, where she danced from 2018 to 2020. There, she performed principal roles in works by Michael Lowe, Dennis Nahat, and Donald McKayle.
Sasha has been recognized as a National Young Arts Winner in both Ballet and Modern Dance. During her time with GDC, she has had the opportunity to perform works by Al Blackstone, Ray Leeper, Liz Imperio, Marina Davis, Gus Giordano, Nan Giordano, Roni Koresh, Jon Rua, Randy Duncan, Ray Mercer, Brock Clawson, Troy Powell, Kia Smith, Autumn Eckman, Joshua Blake Carter, Adam Houston, and more.
She is certified in all five levels of the Nan Giordano Certification Program® and is proud to serve as a Teaching Artist at the Grainger Academy of The Joffrey Ballet. Through GDC’s Jazz Dance/Science & Health Program, she also educates young students in Chicago’s Public Schools using dance to explore movement, wellness, and the connection between science and the body. As a choreographer, Sasha has created works for Giordano II, the Grainger Academy of The Joffrey Ballet, and dance schools throughout the United States.
Sasha is incredibly grateful to continue to share her lifelong passion for dance onstage and beyond.
