Hanover Park, Illinois native Amanda Hickey-Newcom is currently in her ninth season with Giordano Dance Chicago. Her foundational training began at Faubourg School of Ballet, leading her to graduate with honors from Butler University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance. Studying at Butler led to Amanda’s first international experience performing and training in Russia and Poland. This study abroad program also sought out her talents as a choreographer and premiered her work to venues across Eastern Europe.

Following graduation, Amanda returned to the Chicago area and spent four years performing with Nomi Dance Company under Laura Kariotis. Her versatile career includes guest performances with The Schaumburg Dance Ensemble, Élan Artists, and C5 to name a few. An accomplished choreographer, her professional credits include works for Nomi Dance Company, The LAUNCH Chicago, The Ballet Initiative, The Ballet Theatre of Indiana, and Giordano II. In 2018, she joined Giordano II and is currently dancing in Giordano Dance Chicago’s main company where she has performed works by renowned choreographers such as Al Blackstone, Ray Leeper, Roni Koresh, Peter Chu, Randy Duncan, and more. Beyond her work on stage, Amanda is deeply passionate about dance education, teaching and choreographing for studios across the Midwest, and is certified in all five levels of the Nan Giordano Certification Program®.
