Charles Palmer Jr., originally from Crofton, Maryland, developed his love for dance at the age of 12 after moving to Atlanta, GA. He began training in tap dance at The Dance Factory Inc. in Austell, GA under the direction of Debbie Daniel Wells. Through The Dance Factory Inc., he was able to do local dance competitions, deepen his love for tap dance, and continue to train in various dance styles.
After his acceptance to his performing arts high school, Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts, he began doing musical productions such as “Newsies” (Ike) and “9 to 5: The Musical” (Intern/Ensemble). Under the direction of Eileen Edward’s and Denise Reeves, he was able to attend the National High School Dance Festival in Madison, Wisconsin in 2019.
Following high school graduation, Charles attended the University of Arizona as a Dance Major and Psychology Minor, and earned his undergraduate degree in Spring 2025. Throughout his collegiate career, he performed works by Bill T. Jones, Martha Graham, Frank Chavez, Michael Williams, Autumn Eckman, and more. Charles had the opportunity to perform “Diversion of Angels”, choreographed by Martha Graham, at The Joyce Theater in New York City.
In August 2025, Charles began his first season with Giordano Dance Chicago’s second company under the direction of Nan Giordano, Cesar G. Salinas, and Zachary Heller.
