MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN CHICAGO SCHOOLS

Giordano Dance Chicago provides at NO cost to the school a robust program integrating Science and Health with Dance in four under-resourced CPS schools, Willa Cather, Frederic Chopin, Bernhard Moos, & Richard Yates Elementary Schools. The program comprises 14 one hour dance classes taught to our students in four CPS schools. In each school, two dance classes per week are taught for seven weeks each during our residencies.

In April and May, GDC dancers lead 250+ Jazz Dance/Science & Health classes for over 350 CPS students in grades 3, 4, and 5. These students are taught about the skeletal system, muscles, nutrition, respiratory system and more. These lessons are then translated into understanding of how the body works together through jazz dance.

Giordano Dance Chicago gives 800 free performance tickets to see the company perform at the Harris theater to our CPS Science & Health partners, and numerous community organizations throughout the city.
