MAKE IT HAPPEN

CONTINUOUS CREATION OF JAZZ DANCE

Giordano Dance Chicago possesses a singular presence in American jazz dance, shines a light on all jazz dance is and can be, and advocates that it be a vital, prolific and valuable professional art form. Choreography continues to be the life force in GDC's programming & jazz dance education.

In our 60th season, we reflect on the incredible creative output perpetuated in our legacy - over 165 works by 51+ choreographers. By supporting GDC today, you become part of something bigger. You bring choreographers to the studio. You light the stage. YOU Make It Happen.

The Susan Carlins "Make It Happen" Initiative, founded by Joel Carlins in honor of the couple's 32nd wedding anniversary, supports creative artistic projects which simultaneously honor Giordano Dance Chicago's broad legacy and which enhance the organization's reputation for expanding the art form of American Jazz Dance. Specifically, the initiative boosts innovative artistic programs or artistic activities that otherwise might not occur. The first such project was the restaging and remounting of "Giordano Moves" in our 55th Anniversary Season, a work for 15 dancers that is a celebration of the creative output of Gus Giordano. The fund captures Susan Carlins' fearless, catalytic drive and her unstoppable ability to "make it happen."
