Keenan Schember began his formal dance training at the age of 7. His training ranges from classical ballet and jazz, to contemporary styles and modern techniques such as Taylor and Graham. Keenan received three years of Horton modern technique at TU Dance Center in Saint Paul, MiN, training under Uri Sands and Toni-Pierce Sands. In 2016, Keenan pursued his passion to be a well-rounded dancer by attending the University of Arizona School of Dance. While in attendance, Keenan had the pleasure of performing works of master artists including Nacho Duato, Alexei Ratmansky, Christopher Wheeldon, and Darrell Grand Moultrie. He also had the privilege of performing Martha Graham’s Panorama in a Martha Graham Dance performance. In addition to performing masterworks at Arizona, he had the honor of performing the works of and training under the astounding faculty including Autumn Eckman, Sam Watson, Michael Williams, Melissa Lowe, Jory Hancock, and Tammy Dyke-Compton. Keenan graduated from the University summa cum laude with his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance alongside a minor in Communications in just three years. Keenan has a passion for performing but also one for teaching. He has traveled throughout the country teaching in New Orleans, St. Louis, Tucson, and Minneapolis. Additionally, Keenan has traveled to Poland to teach at the Jazzowega Dance Festival and to Bolzano, Italy to assist Sam Watson. This year, Keenan is extremely excited to begin his journey with the Giordano Dance Chicago organization as a Senior Performing Associate.
