MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN CHICAGO SCHOOLS

Jazz Dance/Science & Health is a curriculum-based science and health program integrating dance classes with the Chicago Public Schools health and science curriculum. The program comprises 16 one hour dance classes taught to students in four CPS schools. In each school, two dance classes per week are taught for eight weeks each during our residencies.

From April to June, GDC dancers lead 300+ Jazz Dance/Science & Health classes for over 450 CPS students in grades 3, 4, and 5. These students are taught about the skeletal system, muscles, nutrition, and more. These lessons are then translated into understanding of how the body works together through jazz dance.

Giordano Dance Ticket Program gives 800 performance tickets each year to area students and families from the communities and organizations listed above free of charge.

Please note Giordano Dance Chicago, the Giordano Legacy Fund, and the Nan Giordano Certification Program® are in no way affiliated with the
Gus Giordano Dance School in Andersonville or the Gus Giordano Jazz Legacy Foundation.
