Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago brings energy, excitement, beauty, passion, discipline, and change to the young and young at heart of all cultural backgrounds. Our audience’s standing ovation at the Harris Theatre in October was a clear sign they agreed with the Chicago Sun-Times dance critic who wrote the company "is dancing sensationally these days," with "sheer aerobic power" and "bravura overall technique and high flying partnering skills."
As part of our educational outreach program, we work with public school teachers to teach 4th and 7th graders science through dance at Swift, Peirce, and Goudy elementary schools in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood. Swift School principal Harlee S. Jill wrote to us, "Ninety per cent of the students at Swift are living at the poverty level. Our students love the Giordano program, have increased their self-esteem and have learned a great deal of science in the process. As a result, our test scores in science are on the rise."
These are only two examples of how our dance company reaches out to audiences and the community.
